We cut this midi dress from a thick polyester and spandex knit that stretches across the body. The elastic neckline carries soft ruffles across the shoulders, and the skirt tapers down to a gathered ruffle hem. It fastens up the back with an integrated zipper.

• Elastic ruffle neckline. The ruffled neckline contains sewn-in elastic that sits securely across the shoulders. You can wear it straight across the chest or pulled down slightly on one side as an asymmetric line.
• Side seams and flare. We shaped the bodycon silhouette to hug the hips and thighs before ending in a flounce hem. That lower ruffle adds room through the bottom edge, which helps with stride length as you walk.
• Stretch knit fabric. The 95 percent polyester and 5 percent spandex blend has a substantial hand and strong rebound. It holds its shape through a full evening while accommodating movement without feeling stiff.
• Back zipper and care. A back zipper runs down the spine for straightforward dressing. Hand wash cold or use a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, then lay the dress flat to dry to protect the elastane.
