We cut these shorts with a high waist and front pleats that give room through the hips. A matching fabric belt threads through the loops so you can knot it tight or leave it off. The khaki cloth stays light for warm weather.

• High waist tie. The waistband sits high on the torso and fastens with a self-fabric tie. You can cinch the sash into a knot or remove it entirely when wearing a different belt.
• Pleated front construction. Subtle pleats run down from the waistband into the leg openings. This construction gives structure to the front while leaving enough ease for walking and sitting.
• Side pocket details. We built flat pockets into the side seams. They stay smooth against the hips when empty, holding small essentials without breaking the line of the leg.
